Default 1989 Corvette Remote Start?

I have a 1989 corvette and I have been looking at getting a remote start/keyless entry system for it. I was looking particularly at the newer viper smartstart system along with the gps module.

Has anyone ever installed this on their corvette or another system like it? Or maybe even just another system in general that has remote start?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks, Stephen

I put keyless entry on my 91 for ease of getting in and out for the wife. Not sure why you want remote start anyways?

It's not even so much that i want remote start, it just has a bunch of other features that I would like to have like gps tracking and a bunch of other useful and fun to have features.

On my 89 6speed I have an older model Viper remote start which doesn't have the GPS. It's handy on occasion to get your car pre-warmed / pre-cooled or to just fire it up while you're taking someone on a tour around the car.

It also still amuses me to see people jump when the car seemingly starts up spontaneously in a parking lot.

Mine also has the remote windows/hatch/alarm on it.

I know you have an older model system but do you happen to remember how much the windows option was? I was thinking about getting it and if its not much I might as well since it will al be apart.

Also thanks for the info and I am definitely gonna buy it.

Thanks, Stephen

There's a variety of cheap modules out there, your installer will likely have one already or you can get one online. The expense is the install. They'll come in 2 and 4 window varieties.

Thanks for the link. Since it is not much I will probably get that too depending on how much the installation for it is.

You have been a great help and I will be having the system put in sometime after friday when I get paid.

Thanks, Stephen
