Default Steering

I have a 91 coupe with 125000 on it, what is the best way to tighten the steering. Upper and lower ball joints????. Greasing semes to help but very little. A small bump will make the steering rattle and loose

Raise the front of the car so that the wheels are off the ground. Grab the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock position and try to move the tire in and out. Is there any movement? Could be ball joints or a worn hub. Then grab the tire at the 3 and 9 o'clock position and try moving left and right. Slop here could indicate bad tie rod ends or worn out steering rack.

With that mileage and assuming the components are original, I would replace the 4 ball joints, the outer tie rod ends and get a replacement steering rack. New shocks on all 4 corners too.

You might want to check the steering coupler for play. That's an easy and cheap fix.
