1986 No Start No Spark
Car drove beautifully the last while, Parked it 2 nights ago...got in to start it the next morning and would not START...cranks and cranks and does not even try to catch.
Pulled the codes...NO Codes
Checked all the fuses with my Multi Meter...All good
Hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and i get 42psi key on...drops a few psi while cranking...bleeds down to 20psi in about 15mins...not great..but still okay.
Pulled the vacuum line on the regulator...no fuel or fuel smell...its good.
Checked for spark by pulling a spark plug wire and inserting an old plug i had...grounded the plug to the block..cranked...NO Spark
Sounds like a HEI Issue...into my spare parts box...
Ignition coil 6 months old...swapped it out with a spare i had ...still no start...tested both of my ignition coils with a multi meter and they ohmed within specs
Pulled the cap and rotor (6 months old) they look good,,,swapped them out one at a time with my spares...no start
Changed the 7 pin Ignition Module with a new Delco...same results...No Start...No Spark
I even swapped in my spare ECM with no results
Am i missing something??

Where do i go next?....and dont say the dealership...LOL
Thanks in Advance

Im leaning towards the distributor as the culprit,,,maybe the pick up coil is bad...though i hear these are "rarely" defective??
Would a bad pick up coil cause these issues??
Maybe something to do with VATS??
i ohmed all the injector coils...13.2 x 6 and 12.8 x 2....kinda low but shouldnt be an issue....Brand new Bosch III from FIC 2000 miles ago.
I tried to follow the flow charts in the manual and i am stuck at pick up coil test...if i did it correct with my ohmeter...i believe my p/u coil is failed

I tried my meter on all 6 ohm settings and the number always read 1 (infinite?)....
I guess that means my P/U Coil is shot?
The ignition coil ohmed out fine within specs using the tests in the same section of the FSM

I will probably hunt around for a good used distributor all in one ...mine is looking pretty tired inside...cracked and broken plastic pieces..etc..
I still believe it is the Pick Up Coil because it failed the ohm test. Im still looking for a replacement distributor to swap in to test things out.

Installed a new pick up coil and she fired right up...problem solved thanks to this forum.
The car seems to start much much quicker too...almost instantly all day long...and i used to have an intermittent "hiccup" at idle when hot...hasn't done that all day.
Would the new pick up coil have anything to do with correcting those 2 issues??
