advanced timing problem

Default advanced timing problem

soo i went to go adjust the 87 corvettes timing today and i was maybe going to bump it up a few degrees but when i put the light on it it was already on 18 degrees BTCD..... so i tryed 12, 8 and the car had no power? is this normal? thanks mike

Did you unhook the EST wire ? Tan/black stripe.

Possible, your ballancer has spun the outer ring. Sometimes it happens.

timing is set to 6 degrees btdc with the esc bypass wire disconnected. shut off, reconnect esc bypass, plug negative cable to clear code. If vehicle doesn't respond well the problem is somewhere else.

Double check to see that you have your light connected to the #1 spark plug wire.

yeaa i made sure i had it on the #1 wire, when id go to put it to 6 btcd the car would be gutless

yea i took it up the road after hooking the wire back up and clearing the code and at 12 degrees the car was lazy

Go to a Discounter and buy a Piston Stop Tool (maybe 10 Bucks). Thread into the number one hole. At TDC, see where the mark is on the Balancer.
