Default “Cooling Fan”

I need the cooling fan on my 89 to come on sooner to keep the temp down around 190 degrees being I don’t have the L98 engine anymore.

Is the on/off temp imbedded in the computer chip or can I just get a different fan switch which I believe is on the intake?

The on/off is indeed controlled by the ECM. The relay is located on the driver's side fender. You could use a different fan control and wire to the relay, just understand that the ECM controls by switching the ground, not the power. Also note this is for the main fan, if you have an aux fan it is controlled by a thermal switch located in the drivers side cylinder head.

Thanks no aux fan, If I were to put a toggle switch in the cabin would I just take the two leads from the fan and put power to one and ground to the other to run it manually or is there another way of doing it?

No, one side of switch to ground, the other side to fan relay's dark green/white wire.
