Default Are muffler eliminators bad?

I've never used muffler eliminators for street use on any car. Would there be any long term negative effects on the engine if they are installed on a C4 used only on the street?

none, nada, zilch. Cut um off, get a x pipe and your all set. The cats themselves muffle the exhaust enough.

Gas mileage will suffer LOL because your right foot will search more for the floorboard.

Bad... Bad... Bad...

Bad to the Bone! You'll really like the sound. I drove mine with eliminators for years before getting headers. Hell... I'm thinking about putting eliminators back on it with the headers!! I'd run straight pipes if it weren't for emissions testing.

All I have between the headers and exhaust tips are Cat Converters and I love the sound... Sort of reminds me of a Ferrari with that "ripping canvas" sound above 2500 rpms .People are always telling me how great the exhaust sounds......Sweet......WW

Before you get carried away, CHECK LOCAL ORDINANCES FIRST. I took my Harley to be dyno tuned and had to sign off on a waiver that says I will fix the issue at my expense if the tech gets ticketed and they were not liable or something to that effect because there is a noise ordnance. I also got pulled over in another small town because of the exhaust being loud.

I have stainless longtube headers into a y pipe into a single cat than out the back.there was no cat on the car when i got it and it was loud and raspy.I put the cat on and it mellowed out a bit. Get compliments all the time about how nice it sounds!

I much prefer to demonstrate speed than to advertise it.

Only negative is that old bag across the street will leave a nasty note in your mailbox. And will come out when your in the driveway and bitch and complain at you. But other than that they sound cool.

I'd be more worried about the cop that has a low quota and decides to ticket you. BT Got that. Of course you can fight it in court but you got to go back to that town in the middle of BFE.

To the rice crowd and their fart pipes, absolutely. Unless your exhaust situation really needs it, why risk the tickets? Got 3 in the last 10 years. "Fix it" isn't as bad but you got to bring it down to a cop shop for inspection. PITA.
