Hi guys, I have a starting problem. At first start in the morning turn the key nothing no noise hit two or three times nothing.Wait two minutes it starts right up as normal. Was thinking starter selnoid but seems like that either works or it dont car is 1993 lt1.I got caught in heavy rain two weeks ago and this started after that. thanks in advance. Tim
Try simple corrections first....... use a different ignition key, then
clean & tighten the battery cables. Report back......
There is a saying KISS and it works on alot of things. My experience is from old cars only had this vette less than a year. Try all connections loose and tighten them.Go all the way to the starter. You say no sound at all? No click nothing? Usually a starter will give you an indication before going south.

Yes going to do that.Cables ect. are 21 years old. Only first start has it been doing it since I changed the key.Starts as normal after that.It did stall on me the other day 6-speed but started after 3 minutes. Thank for your input. Tim
Nothing at all? You should be able to hear the starter relay clicking. It's located on the firewall at the bottom of the steering column. Turn off the radio and A/C and listen for that click.
If there is no relay click then the problem is quite likely to be VATS related. The problem that happens most often is that the resistor pellet in the key gets dirty. Another likely candidate is the thin wires on the key contacts break from being flexed every time the key is turned. In my case one of the contacts in the ignition switch bent over and was making contact intermittently.
You can check for these problems by finding the VATS connector at the bottom of the steering column (2 pin connector with very small white wires in bright orange sleeving). Unplug that connector, put the key in the ignition (don't turn it) and use a DVM on the 20K range to measure the resistance at the connector. This checks the key pellet, the contacts in the ignition switch and the wires. The connector you're looking for looks like this:
If the starter relay DOES click then the relay contacts could be bad or the starter solenoid could have a problem. There is always the possibility of a bad connection somewhere in the starter circuitry. Check BOTH ends of BOTH battery cables for tight and clean connections.
