I did a search and didn't find any info on this subject. I have a 1996 corvette coupe. I want to replace my 896 fog light bulbs with LEDs. The site I was going to buy them through does not have a direct replacement for 896. I saw a cross reference list that says H11 can be used in its place. Has anyone on the forum used H11s in place of the 896? If so, how did they fit/work?
Are you talking about a plug-in LED orca wire-in? I'd be interested in a plug n play LED as I never use the fog lights! LED strips would really improve daytime visibility.
That link is for earlier C4s. Will the 885 bulb fit our later C4s? I'm not sure why the article says the later c4 has this upgrade from the factory. The stock 896 bulbs do absolutely nothing. I'd be interested in trying the 885s with a 15A fuse if the bulb fits properly. Also interested in the H11 still.
The article was good for info about how the 896s are wired even though the bulbs mentioned are not the same. My fogs turn off when the high beams are on.
I ordered a pair of H11s off Amazon for $5 for the pair with free shipping just to try them. For $5 I can't co wrong. I'll post how they fit and work once I get them next weekend.
Cool deal look forward to hearing the results. I was in Walmart this morning and looked at the H11 bulbs. They are slightly bigger than the 896s. Looks like the same connection though.
1993C4Lt1, I'm coming to that same conclusion. Do the 5K HIDs require anything special with regard to the electrical system? I'm thinking of yellow LEDs for parking lights, and brighter fogs, that are more to the blue spectrum to have the LED look but still light up the road.

No, it's a simple plug and play kit. Easy to install. If you want that blue look, get the 6k fogs.
Two bulbs and two ballasts. You plug your stock connector into the ballast, and you plug the HID bulb into the ballast. Very simple. Definitely brighter.
Just know that all of these HID kits you can buy, whether it be from a vendor or flea bay, is made in China. I started having problems where I kept blowing fuses. One of the ballasts were shorted causing my tail lamp fuse to blow. I got replacement ballasts and then I kept having problems with my battery draining after the car sat. It would also cause my passive keyless entry light to flash on and off whenever I turned my fogs on or off.
This may not happen to you, but just be forewarned that cheap components can cause goofy things to happen.
I have since returned my fogs back to stock after going through a few vendors and a couple sets of HID kits. Now I have Hella e code head lamps with Philips Xtreme power +80 bulbs and couldn't be happier. The low beams are excellent and the high beams are extraordinary. Also a very sharp and defined cutoff.
