I have a 94 6 speed. I am preparing to do a cam and long tube header swap. I also need to replace the oil pan. It has a very large dent in the rear of it and I worry I will starve the engine of oil in a drag race or track day. I really need to change the clutch, too. After 3 back to back drag runs it will slip in 3rd & 4th...I cross line in 4th. I also need to track down a shorted wire from alternator into dash or PCM that triggers the alternator to charge. I'm running on a self exciting voltage regulator now.
Would it be easier to just pull the whole engine to do all of this versus doing it all in the car? I have access to the tools and lots of help to do it either way. Pulling it seems to be the vote of the guys willing to help me.
pull it. you'll be amazed at all the little things, abraided wiring harnesses, rotten vacumn hose, nuts, bolts that need to be tightened, etc, that you would never be aware of with the engine in the car; plus it will be the only opportunity to throughly clean the engine bay
