L-98 Stuff (x-post from ECM)
The short of it is I'm stuffing an '86 L-98 in a '58 vette less power steering, smog pump, etc.... need to know what I'll run into and how to fix up the ECM (or do a PCM swap???) to make it run right.
Many thanks :D
Then you will need to get the wiring harness and all sensors, etc.
The only tranny inteface is speed (VSS), shift position indicator and TCC lockup clutch. The VSS signal is essential, not sure about shift position inputs but the TCC output is not essential unless you have a lockup TC.
You don't "need" the AIR diverter output only signal, but may need to use a heated O2 sensor as it's input is vital. You won't "need" the AIR inputs to the exhaust manifolds but the EGR is needed unless you fool the ECM by feeding back the command signal into it's temp. sensor input.
The coolant temp & air temp inputs will be needed.
Of course you will need an in-tank fuel pump with larger hi-pressure fuel lines and the oil pressure gauge & switch assembly.
The fuse block may be a task to convert too, unless you rig an auxiliary one.
Maybe you an find a list from someone who has done this or a book on the subject. I've seen magazine articles with conversions like this, though not in detail.
