I put an LS engine in my car.
I have actually tried that, best offer I got was a trade where I had to add about 800$ for some 5-speed I was told was a TKO500. When in reality it was at best the original TKO.

EDIT
I almost have enough parts to stick in a 4.8L vortec, too far into that engine to just go buy a vette ls1.
I still need
Fuel system
Wiring Harness
And depending on the computer I use, I will need either
Tuning software/hardware
A Computer

If you swap over to the 4.8 and keep it stock you don't have to have it tuned and a Fbody Ls harness is easy to convert and I can help with that.
I like the LS idea but what about getting a Lt1 harness and intake and fixing it back to stock? that will be easier and more cost effective. I really wish I lived near we could go to town on that thing and have you going in no time. Maybe you should start a new thread and call it "What are my options", someone might come up with a better Idea.

I already have a ls ECM Service number 12200411 I bought for this. I thin it is programed for a 200 C5.

To put the LT1 back to stock I would need
Optispark
Wiring Harness
ECM
Intake
Fuel rails
Sensors

And for good measure
Water Pump

and probably more

On the 4.8 I have already bought
LS1 intake
ECM
Exhaust manifolds
Complete Accessory system W/o belt
New Harmonic Balancer
Spark plugs & wires
engine mount adapters
RM6039? bell housing (works great on the LT1 for now)
Flywheel
Clutch (maybe)
And more I have probably forgotten.

Unfortunately for me I did not realize that I could have gotten a c5 ls1 for the same or less until it was too late.

I would also like to rebuild the lt1 and use it in my 1960 C10 Shortbed Stepside project.

The 4.8 accessories will not work with your C4. You need to get
C5 accessories for it.

Yup did that, that is why I had "Complete Accessory system W/o belt" int the list.

Add oil pan to that list while we are at it.
