Default ID engine mods by PO..

There is no reason for new posts here.
I no longer give a !@#$ about the LT1 in this thread.

I got thinking about the lt1 in my c4, and I am wondeing if there is any way to guess what has been done to it. I am mainly wondering about the internals.

I have found that that it has GMPP 1.6RR.
I have over revved it a few times according to the tach, and I normally shift at WOT around 4800-5000 and I don't notice any problems yet.

I mention the RPM because for some reason I under stand that lt1s don't like being shifted at those rpms.

The ECM has a fuel cutoff that acts like a rev limiter at just above 5200 RPM. If you have ever run the engine up to that RPM, you can definitely feel it. 4800 to 5K is not a problem for the LT1.

It would be real hard to tell what mods a previous owner may have done to the internals. The rockers can be seen from the oil fill hole but anything like aftermarket performance pistons, cam, head work or similar things would be very hard to identify.

My car does not have a ECM...It has a carburetor, and a 70s style HEI...

I found the roller rockers the first time I had to remove a valve cover and saw them.

The PO looks to have been a backyard hack of the worst kind to look at that mess you have.

Some of that was me...but I am not telling what...

I plan to have it much much better after I get my 4.8 Swapped in.
I wanted a 5.3 but got a 4.8 might add a supercharger later.

You do have a fire extinguisher in the car right?

Why would you go with a smaller displacement engine? A 350 LT1 (5.7L) block that is well-built and has quality parts could easily withstand RPM's in the high 6K to possibly 7K range. Even with a well set up carb, there is no reason why you couldn't expect something in the 600HP range. It would take a good builder and money, but 350 cubic inch SBC motors will handle lots of power and are very durable.

What is the rubber line with the hose clamps that appears to come out of the side of the brake master cylinder???

It stops at the end of the picture, I think that line goes to the abs (does not work). IMHO the abs is not working because the There is no TPS, and the traction control was removed.

I am considering just building the lt1, But no machine shop with in 100 miles will touch it.....LAME.

IF any one knows of a machine shop that will work on LT1s within 130 miles of 83263 can you please name it.

I would rather use the 4.8 for my jeep or my 1960 c10 then the vette at this point.

I will need a few parts to get the vette running good with fuel injection.
How hard would it be to use a 94 wiring harness and ECM on a 93?

Yes I am sure it is an lt1.
One time When i was changing the clutch, I changed the oil pan gasket and rear main seal. I have also changed the timing chain, intake gaskets, head gasket (dropped something in a cylinder while changing the intake gaskets).

Plus you can tell it is an lt1 by were the radiator hoses are.

my car is a 1993 c4 with a zf6 (blue tag).

I read that again and maybe you need to tell the people that run these sites that they don't have lt1/4s.

How is telling me I don't know what engine i have in my car helping? Please explain that for me.

And right about now setting it on fire is sounding like a good idea.

EDIT
Should have quoted what I saw earlier about someone saying it looks like a l98 and the compressor being on the wrong side.

EDIT2
Here is a quote from the email I got earlier.

ch@0s has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - ID engine mods by PO.. - in the C4 Tech/Performance forum of Corvette Forum.

Like I said i'm just trying to help. If you are insulted by my questions don't post on a public forum. I did not send that email you have email notification turned on.
The L98 has the compressor on the other side. If I were you I would not be insulted you are better off with an L98 than that hacked up LT1 you have now.
I realized I made a mistake and deleted the rest of that post within seconds.

I am sorry about my responses, I am having a hard time getting "support" for things I pay for, and I am angry at having to pay to beta test things. I have clearly aimed it at the wrong places. I think I will do my best to stay off here for a while.

Just posting this to say that I once again decided to remove the LT1 and replace with something else. I don't know the will happen to the LT1 at this point, but I don't give a !@#$ about LT1s now.

And I will destroy it before giving it away.

Why dont you sell it as a long block without the intake? You can take the proceeds and use it towards your next engine.

I put an LS engine in my car.
