1988, working on the car, pulled my drivers side sun visor off and my horns went off and would not stop... I am 99.9% sure it has nothing to do with the visor, I do not think it's the alarm because the Security light is not flashing. I pulled the steering wheel off and the damn horns still would go off.
I of course pulled the connections off the horns, but the battery died after sitting for 4-5 days. I assume it's from the horn relay being triggered even with out the horns going off?
The alarm will pulse the horns. If they are sounding constantly then it's a problem in the horn circuitry.
Since you've got the horns disconnected, you can check the horn operation by pressing on the horn button. You should hear the horn relay clicking. I suspect from your description that the relay is on constantly, so this might not help you. You can unplug the horn relay to stop it from draining your battery.
Take the horn button off the steering wheel and check things out in that area. You might have to take some things apart to get down into the horn button contact and the contact ring. I haven't been in there is a while, but I'm pretty sure it's under the steering wheel so you'll probably have to take it off. You'll need a puller of some kind. I used my harmonic balancer puller.
Yeah, I already pulled te wheel off, so it's not the contact for the horn doing it. I may have to go deeper in the steering column. Where is the horn relay on the 88? It's not listed in the Chiltons Book, I see it on the wiring diagram but that's it.
Awesome! Thank you very much. If I pull that relay out for the alarm, it should disable the alarm right? I purchased the vehicle from some one who does not have the clicker for it and I have set it off a couple times.

At the relay, there are 2 black wires, one from alarm controller, the other from horn switch. Determine which is which and cut the one from controller, then you can keep your horn.
That being said, you may not need to if you understand how the system works and if it is working properly. Power locks arm the system and the door key disarms it. There is no clicker/fob.
I found the issue with the horns, the wire that travels through the steering wheel and attaches the spring to the horn button broke off and slid down the steering shaft, worked it's way around and was lodged between the inner springs and the horn contact button on the blinker switch causing it to make a connection...
Easy fix.
I know how the alarm system works using the passenger side door/lock to disarm it, but I did not know it never came with a clicker.
