I've read articles going both ways on the pistons. I still wouldn't trust a 250 shot on a stock bottom end. Since we are advising another member I personally would not recommend something that could very easily grenade the whole motor. But to each his own.

Where have you seen it documented that the pistons were NOT forged?? I've never heard such a thing. Please post where you saw that....

Dont bother Tom. Its not worth it. Its kinda like talking to my teenager, she knows everything too.

Hell the OP hasnt even been back probably scared him off. Would have been nice to learn his budget, and what look he was going for. Clean, Stock looking show car, or butchered, and modified figure 8 rollover. h

Unfortunetly the problem lots of time with the 84 threads is a certain someone signs up with different screen names and starts these types of threads about mods for the 84 and there just bs threads. It takes a bit to figure out if its a legit thread or not. Hopefully this was legit. And your right it would have been nice for him to follow thru with this thread.

So true, so guess we'll make our thread :-) Tell me more about the ebl system. I consider myself pretty smart, but have never done any tuning. Is it pretty easy once its set up? h

Its a plug an play system with the HAM board. Uses a WUD display on your laptop for datalogging, funerpro for .bin changes. Its a flash type set up so no burning chips. You can load up to 8 .bins in the ecm and change what .bin you want to use at a time. It does have VE learning so a newbie to can easily get used to it.

I have the EBL Flash system for my '84 and am in the middle of tuning. I am driving the car, now, but I am not finished with the tuning yet. There are lots and lots and lots of parameters that can be changed for the tuning! The VE Learning is great, but depending upon what kind of changes you make to the engine may not be enough. I started with one of the base bins and was immediately able to drive the car, but it was far from being ideal. I ran a few VE Learns, and it was much better, but still not great. This was a matter of an hour or two after starting the engine and cam break in. At this point, I could use the car without hesitation, though.

I am by no means an expert at tuning an engine or being an engine builder, but I like to play at it. The engine is a 350 c.i. out of a '76 pickup. It had been bored out, 0.30, before I got it. It did/does have the crossfire manifold system. I ported the manifold, changed the cam, heads, rod bearings, pistons, and rings. The heads are cheap aluminum and the cam is a small Lunati Voo-Doo. It has about 10:1 compression, now. I also bored the throttle bodies to 2" and put on 80# injectors. I believe the problem with my tuning is with the 80# injectors. I have been decreasing the Pulse Width for the Acceleration Enrichment, and it is getting better, but I am still not there yet. It was running too rich (and I believe puddling gas) during acceleration. Making the changes for the tuning is quick and easy. I just don't know what the heck I need to change! There is a lot of help over at thirdgen.org for tuning. Rbob, the owner/brains of Dynamic EFI, lives over there. I haven't posted my issues, but he is very helpful!

I would recommend the EBL Flash for tuning, but it is not a plug and play system, depending upon what kind of changes you make and how perfect you want the engine to run. You have the ability to make your "tune" whatever you want it to be. How detailed you want to get into the tuning is up to you.

BTW, I was actually being sarcastic by saying to add the 250 shot to a 30 year old stock motor. I do believe it would work, as long as you didnt use it 5 times a day. Some people are just looking for a fight. h

"Dear hemivett...
LOL. I was recently told in a thread to "leave me alone and leave!". He wasn't the OP and therefor had no business telling me to leave, but I think posted that three times? All intermixed with him calling me names, etc. The thread got locked, so after calling me names, and telling ME to leave him alone (which he's welcome to ignore my posts and/or the thread), he then chased me to my PM box to inform me that the thread was locked!! Yeah buddy! "Leave me alone!", but then when I can't call you names in a thread anymore, I'll harass you through PM's.

Yep....kooks are in the house! Sorry to hear that you got harassed through your email, no less! That is lame. Thanks for sharing. It IS good to know who/what we're dealing with.
