Okay. Evidently I'm just talking to the wrong people and/or asking the wrong questions.. I'm just going to have to choose a good motor and then ask about the additional parts afterwards..

You guys gave me a lot of good choices.. What I'm going to do is find out which motor I can buy LATER but start adding parts to my L98 that will fit it first.. Did I make sense there? I guess I should start adding parts to my L98 and make sure that whatever work is done matches up with the engine I want later...

Does that sound good?

GM makes a crate 383, you can even get an optional 2 Year or 24,000 mile parts and labor warranty. It also costs a lot less than $15K.

I LIKE the sounds of that 500 horsepower 383! I think I understand the whole deal now.. It costs $15,000.00 (or $25,000.00 at Lingenfelter) for a 500 horse power 383 to be BUILT for me - OR, I can pay $5000.00 tops and have one SENT to me..

Gee. Tough decision... Thanks all! I think I know what I want to do now... I'm going to talk to Corvettes Unlimited about building around one of these motors...
