Wasn't there a video or at least a thread talking about door jamb replacement? I could have sworn I saw it, but now I can't find it anywhere. I'd like to do the replacement myself, but it's my understanding there's a floating backplate behind the switch. Obviously, the last thing I need is for it to fall inside the door.
If your referring to the plastic male switch on the doors that pops in and out I found a quick fix that worked for me. In the middle of the switch that pops out is another male button inside it. I pulled that center button out slightly (adjustable button) and slipped a #60 rubber Oring over it so its between both of the male buttons . The inside button on that switch wears out and just slides all the way in. Only use enough orings to make the door ajar light stay off.

The nut plate is captive by the wires. It can slip down the wires, but it won't fall down inside the door. I got the nut plate out of an '84 Corvette. I was able to pull the harness out of my door without removing the door panel, but the '84 I saw had harness clips about 4" inside the door that would prevent the harness from coming out.
