Add a black vette, pretty much a 2 hour traffic jam, and 95-100 degree heat. What do you get?
Coolant temp. 248 degrees
Oil temp. 253 degrees
I have a 180 degree t-stat and a manual fan switch which was on the entire time. This stuff was kinda making me a bit uneasy. I got to where I was going, let the car sit and cool for a couple hours while I checked out some hotties. Everything is good to go now.
QUESTION: What is TOO hot? Will a check engine soon light come on? Did I do any damage to my car?
with the coolant that hot i would be afraid i hurt a head gasket but if it all runs well now mabie you got lucky. Prolly be a good idea to change the oil soon and check for water in it
Thanks guys, I was just wanting to see how irregular those temps were. I am going to my mechanics tomorrow, it's due for an oil change. My oil changes suck, I gotta get 8 L 20W50 valvoline. The Moroso Accumulator sump pump takes 3 L, oh well, it's piece of mind.
I have it so I can turn on just the aux. fan, or them both. I had them both running. Never had any overheating problems on the ride home though. (6 hours or so) I think it was mainly due to the heat of the day and the black car. I'll have my mechanic check it out tomorrow.
