Default need c4 guru advice please

Just got first Vette.

Got long tube headers into flow masters this week, considering getting the "First Fuel Injection" manifold system next, any comments?

This will be a several stage project but would eventually like to have a 383 set up similar to the "Super Chevy TPI" article.

You need to become familiar with the PCM and custom tuning.
That is if your interested in taking advantage of mods power potential.
Otherwise the mods may have a negligible change or negative impact.

here is more details, traded a couple of early 90's model sea doos for my new toy, 1991 coupe, white, auto. It has a rebuilt title, I think it was hit in the back because the back clip is "red" under the white paint. It supposedly has 15k on a fresh rebuild and10k on tranny and fuel injectors. under valve covers are very clean from what I can tell through the filler hole. the car has only been driven about 5800 miles since 2007 according to the oil change sticker. the problem is I have no info on the rebuild , it could be a 383 already with ported heads already for all I know. if it does have an upgraded cam it is very mild. My guess is that it went back stock since it came from California.

So far I have put on new rear tires, plugs, wires, distributor & button, battery, k&n filter, cut air box.
this week I put on long tube headers straight back to flow masters with a crossover and deleted egr & air. I will get a compression test this week to see what I have to work with in the bottom.

Ken at First Fuel Injection is a great guy. He really runs First Performance, and sells the intakes too. He can recommend a tuner to help you with whatever you build. You'll need a cable to connect the ALDL port to a laptop, and you'll download software to record for the tuner to read operation from.

Better get your "tuning" figured out soon...You can't just delete EGR and A.I.R. without telling the ECM...otherwise you could set up an expensive situation for the engine. The ECM needs to know when things are removed or deleted. Neither of those will do anything to help with performance...they actually benefit in certain ways.

Default update

cylinder pressure was 190 +/- 10 except #8 which was 165.

would PCM for less be a good place to get a tune or do i need to take the car somewhere?

If the only change you've made or know about is the headers then a new tune is probably not warranted yet.

On the other hand PCMforLess mail order tunes are good (personal experience) and will probably make a small positive difference to even a stock motor.I got slightly snapper performance and another 2 mpg.

Reprogrammed Mem-cal for removal of air is not necessary (just tape up electrical connectors and tuck away) but is for EGR deletion- most times. (some report no codes thrown, some do).

Removal of EGR does nothing for increasing power but can prevent a 'stuck open' erratic idle situation.
