Recently bought 8 Delco "Surefire 5" plugs for my L98 ("86) from Amazon. Opening the boxes, I find two plugs missing the gaskets. I call "A" to ask them to send gaskets, they insist on sending two new plugs (return other two). O.K., I get the "new plugs. I'm sitting at the table cutting out the UPC codes for the rebate and I find that the two new plugs have a different UPC and the plugs are different physically. New Plug=Lighter (color) metal base, cap,and electrode, different shape electrode, knurl around base under hex lands, longer dimension from gasket flat to tip of electrode, NEW UPC #8 08709 12590 7; OLD UPC #7 07773 18856 9. It seems to be an update or re-design??? Even the boxes have subtle differences in printing.
ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT MIXING THESE PLUGS? http://forums.corvetteforum.com/memb...py-153701.html

I'd probably just return the entire mess! Local purchases don't have these issues. It's solved "toe to toe" at time of purchase. I'd certainly think that you'd rather a "set" - Internet purchases are often something other than what you anticipate.
There was a similar situation recently with a "RockAuto" buy - these vendors buy obsolescence, over-runs and in some instances the product is just a "counterfeit" - do they know? I'd bet!
The product on the left without the knurl is the older ACD product and I would think the preferred - does it matter? I don't believe I'd "mix em"!
