A lot depends on the year of the LT1. I would think at the very least that you would need the correct ECM (or PCM, as they called it) to match the engine.

I believe the VSS signal goes to the computer first on LT1 cars and then to the dash. It goes to the dash first and then to the ECM on pre-1990 cars. I have heard of adapter boxes to take care of that.

Bolts straight in , '92 + cars came with LT1 engines
Need different radiator hoses to suit LT1 water pump

No ,
but you would need all of the LT1 Vette wiring and computer setup to run it as a LT1 unless you

1.drill a hole in the LT1 intake for your TPI dist and use your existing TPI computer/ wiring
2. install a carb

The oil pan, rocker covers and the internals (if your '86 is a 1 pce seal engine. )

..... LT motors never made it into trucks ... unless you count the Caddy Sedan De Villes or the Buick Road Hogs .............

The LT1 was never fitted to any trucks?
See

Are you sure it is a LT1,
does it have the front mounted dist and water pump with two outlets?

Dash / gauges are independent of the ECM.
You just leave all the relevant stock 86 gauge wiring in place and add the wiring harness needed for the new ECM to run the engine as a standalone setup

..... I read the Wiki-link twice and the closest I came to a truck reference was that the L99 used the same pistons as a Vortec 5000 but with shorter rods ... ??? .... I guess I must have missed it .....

Suggest you actually IDENTIFY what engine you are talking about 1st then come back with the questions

So a completely irrelevant fact and not worth mentioning then.
Just confuses the question
