i have been given a lt1 motor and i was wondering how hard would it be to install in my l98 86 corvette. would i have to change the dash any and would it be worth it. if not what all could i use off the motor on mine l98 if anything
A lot depends on the year of the LT1. I would think at the very least that you would need the correct ECM (or PCM, as they called it) to match the engine.
I believe the VSS signal goes to the computer first on LT1 cars and then to the dash. It goes to the dash first and then to the ECM on pre-1990 cars. I have heard of adapter boxes to take care of that.
the engine is out of truck( not sure what kind or year ) but they have the ecm and wiring harrness could i use it and would i have rewire all the dash and gagues

..... LT motors never made it into trucks ... unless you count the Caddy Sedan De Villes or the Buick Road Hogs .............

Dash / gauges are independent of the ECM.
You just leave all the relevant stock 86 gauge wiring in place and add the wiring harness needed for the new ECM to run the engine as a standalone setup
Are you sure it is a LT1,
does it have the front mounted dist and water pump with two outlets?
..... I read the Wiki-link twice and the closest I came to a truck reference was that the L99 used the same pistons as a Vortec 5000 but with shorter rods ... ??? .... I guess I must have missed it .....
