Hi guys,
I am running a C4 rack in my C3 project with an SRIII tube chassis. I am finishing the plumbing for the power steering but before I fill the system with fluid, I know I can adjust the pressure with shims in the early power steering pump. I am hoping someone can tell me the ideal pressure required to operate the rack properly. I don't want the steering to be to edgy. I plan on using this car on the street but also spend a fair amount of time on the road race track.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
Question: Since you've got a SRIII chassis, do you have a full C-4 front suspension? Putting a C-4 rack on a C-3 front suspension would be a major problem!
When looking into installing a hydroboost brake unit which uses power steering pressure to operate, I was told C4 pumps operate at around 1300 to 1500lb pressure.
Not sure if that's what you're wanting to know or not?
I have a hydro boost unit installed. Am just finishing plumbing it now. Before I fill it with fluid, I thought I should make sure the power steering pump is set for the correct pressure. I believe the mustang rack is designed for around 1,000 psi. You think the C4 rack is designed for 1300 to 1500 psi? I don't want to fill the system and then have to drain it again (messy) to reset the pressure on the pump. I was also wondering if the psi was on the lower side, if it would allow more road feel instead of being to light feeling, if that makes any sense.
