Bought a Dana 44 with 3.54 gears for my auto 1989 corvette that has 2.59s. Tire size is 285/35zr18. What drive, driven, and vss do I need?

You for sure are going to need to change the drive to a 15 tooth and I'd start with a 43 tooth driven. You will need to rotate your VSS to do this and some report it to be a satisfactory change. I'd rather use a correct VSS but they're difficult to find and expensive. The drives and driven are also difficult to come by. I actually may have the correct gears for you, I would need to look but it's possible. My gears would be new.

I can supply an image of how I suggested a fellow modify the VSS retainer and he sent me a snapshot of his "modified". The last I spoke to him he was happy and all is well. YMMV!

The 285/18 is nearly identical to the 275/17 so the 43 should do well. It's where I would start.

For my 1990 Vert auto; went from a 2:73 to 3:54 gears on my D36. Installed the drive and driven gears and used a used VSS from a 3:07 auto. This VSS can handle 40-45T driven gear. The 2:59 and 2:73 used a 34-39T VSS. Bought my used VSS from a forum member. The 40-45 was stamped on the VSS if you can find one to verify it is the correct one.
