when attempting to pull the turn signal up to go right, it's not clicking...not even catching. however, it works when pushed down to go left. i'm not sure what happened. it had been working fine until this afternoon. i have a 92 coupe.
is this something that i could fix or does it require a shop's help?? any information you all could provide would be GREATLY appreciated. :(
That all depends on how good you are at fixing things. This will give you some idea what you have to do. You have air bag so you have to disconect that to
You will find you have to replace the pivot switch - about $185 from the dealer, so shop around. I was too chicken to take my column apart so I had professional help. Jeff Kopp @ Superior Chevy will get you a good price on the part if you identify yourself as a Forum member.

If you can pull the lever down and the left turn signal comes on read on.
If you can't turn the left signal off with the lever, read on.
If you can get the left turn signal to turn off by turning the wheel left, read on.
If you can't get the right turn signal on at all, read on.
If all of the above are true, would bet a case of Heineken you have a broken pivot switch. Replaced mine 3 weeks ago. GM parts direct had them priced around $90. List around 180, with discount, local GM, around $130. Let me know if you want to tackle this problem. It may be around $300 to $500 at a dealer. I'm guessing they get at least 2 hours for this job, maybe 3.

think i owe you a case...you hit the nail on the head. when i left work yesterday and switched to the left lane, the clicker would not turn off. it finally clicked when i had to make a left turn off the freeway. i had forgotten the guy before me bought an extended warranty on the car. i plan on calling tomorrow to see if this is covered...keeping my fingers crossed. :(
i appreciate the info... :yesnod:
