On mine one relay is for OD, and the other is the fuel pump. Like I offered before, I will gladly help you with it. All you gotta do is ask......Then you can help with my ls swap. Lol. Peace brother! h
i appreciate that man, but i got it running now this is the only thing left. i was about to take her out when i found this plug. the fuel pump and od use the same relay this connector is much larger
it comes out seperately from the driver side wire loom in between booster and battery.
I don't have anything like that on my '87. Also, the orange wire nut sticking out from the black tape wrap is clearly not OEM. I would bet that the gray connector is tied to that wire nut somehow. Possibly a previous owner's wiring hack job.

As you have seen, the OD relay and the FP relay are the same part. Definitely get those bare wires cleaned up and covered GM used a black tar type of sealer on these connectors and over the years the stuff dried out and it cracks. The wire covers get hard and they start to break leaving bare wire. I think that replacement connectors and terminal ends are available so it might be a good idea to start replacing them.
I would suggest that you get the Factory Service Manual books to help with identifying the electrical stuff. One of these books has all of the wiring diagrams by component showing what is controlled and where the harnesses are located on the car. There's also a section with pictures of each wire connector and what it's used for. There is a specific troubleshooting section for all the electrical components. It will go a long way to help with identification and how to fix stuff.
i cleaned that up i saw it and was wondering what the hell happened. the nut im pretty sure was from the in cabin fuel pump switch before i took the carburetor off. ill get into the book and take a peep
If I may, I would like to clear up any confusion your description might spur...the relay pictured above is the FUEL PUMP relay only, and has nothing to do with the OVERDRIVE relay. They are two separate units, and the OD relay is found on manual transmission cars only, and are not found on automatic transmissions cars.

What he should have said was the pump relay and the O/d relay use the same replacement part #
You can interchange the relays in their respective positions for testing purposes
