Default WILL IT GO FASTER

I KEEP HEARING ABOUT THE 3:07 BEING THE GEAR FOR THE L98`S. I HAVE AN 87 AND IT HAS THE FOLLOW MODS: 1.6`S ,FORCE AIR INDUCTION, K&N AIR FILTER, SIAMESE PORTED RUNNERS, PORTED PLENUM, PORTED INTAKE, STAGEII CHIP, GUTTED MAF SENSOR, RELOCATED MAT SENSOR.,2500 STALL AND 3:54 GEARS. I BROKE THE REAR END AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU THINK I WOULD RUN SLOWER WITH THE 3:07 GEAR OR FASTER? NEVER HAD 1/4 MILE TIME BUT 1/8 TIME IS 8.56 AT 83MPH, WITH 2.0 60 FT. ALSO HAVE NITTO DRAGS 555. CAR SPENDS HALF CAR LENGTH 1ST GEAR. SHOULD I GO WITH THE 3.07 OR BACK WITH THE 3.54`S? OH YEAH ALSO HAVE 180 T-STAT.

I'd stay with the 3.07 till you get that 60' down.

The 3.07s are perfectly fine for a relatively stock car and allow you to hold a gear longer. In fact there hasn't been any gain shown with a 3.45/3.54 conversion from a 3.07. What you gain in the first 1/8th or so you will lose in the last 1/8th.
