I have hooker 2149s, identical to the 2151 except for the addition of EGR and AIR tubing.

1. Performance : So far so good, no before/after #s though.
2. Installation : Easy!
3. Plug Clearance : Easy!
4. Heat problems w/wires & Starter : So far no issues!
5. Quality : Can't complain!
6. Sound : Ohhhh mama she sounds meeeean. :D
7. Appearance : Here is a pic from when I was reassembling my engine....

One thing I would suggest is taking the passenger side engine mount bolt and reversing it. :yesnod:

I love my tpis. Installation was a snap and clearance wasn't an issue. Although I have heard they wont clear 85 model cars that well.
Another bonus to the tpis header is that all the factory brackets are reused without any engineering work.
I have also heard that the coating on the tpis doesn't hold up that well......mine have only been on a two weeks so I can't say anything on that subject....but they better hold up.

No- its a coupe. Scorp, you always come through dude! Pics and everything! Well, so far I think the Hookers are winning.
Scorp, how come you left that line on the drivers side if you took off the AIR pump and used headers? Is that EGR? Mines on the other side. Your engine looks great- I want to go with black, but I will probably go with a Mini-Ram instead of SR. You cant get SR anymore anyways.

Just like Scorp has, I have the 2149's. They're ceramic coated, and they sound sweet! They have all the emission crap on them too, if you decide to hook some up.

Oh, order them from Summit ( http://www.summitracing.com
and they're only $450 :yesnod:

I never bought the Y pipe. I just had my mechanic throw in an H pipe and run 2.5" duals all the way back to 2 chamber flowmasters.

Actually, the resonance is kinda loud. But , I never put tips on the mufflers. I kinda liked the way it looked from the back. The outlets on the exhaust is just in front of my back bumper. I bet if I put tips on, it's greatly reduce the resonance.

Hmm, Bustamente...I watched UFC or Pride fighting the other day, and there's a Brazillian named Murrilo Bustamente. He kicked butt. :smash:

Another vote for Hooker 2149's.
Vey pleased with mine. They fit fine.
No exp with the TPIS. Reading some forum posts, the TPIS aren't that great as far as quality. (??)
How come no one uses legbars hardly anymore? I have success with them because no one expects them or knows how to defend against them.

The TPIS are good headers, install was a snap, however, when using the (straight plug) aftermarket Edelbrock aluminum heads I had to make clearance adjustments for #7 plug. Heat is an issue for me, installed a ton of heat shielding products to protect wiring, starter, etc. Sound is excellent.

If you keep posting your engine pic Scorp I'm gonna have to breakout some black spray paint soon!

I purchased TPIS 1900 degree ceramic coated headers approx 1 yr ago after researching what type of headers to buy. I have found that in the go fast business you do not want to sacrifice quality for price. Because my '96 LT-4 Collector Edition Vette is a daily driver in the summer (except when its raining), heat containment and extraction were of the utmost importance to me. The heat generated by a 10.8/1 compression LT4 engine is extreme. I've found that the passenger cabin doesn't get any hotter (because of the 1900 degree ceramic coating on the headers) then that of the stock cast iron exhaust manifold. I decded to sacrifice the attractive appearance in the engine compartment of the 1300 degree polished silver header for the utilitarian effeciency of the 1900 degree header. Performance wise, I had 327 RWHP with the stock exhaust manifold and stock exhaust. With the long tube headers and a TPIS exhaust system, I am now generating 365 RWHP. The added bonus of the TPIS exhaust system, it is a real head turner. I have C5 guys coming up to me all the time asking me what kind of exhaust I have and then saying that it is the best exhaust they have ever heard (deep, powerful, muscle car sounding). The exhaust has been modified to accept a CAT as my car is emissions compliant. I don't know how familiar you are with the LT!/LT4 engine but plug accessability is tenuous at best, wheather or not were talking about the stock manifold or TPIS headers. Suffice it to say that plug clearance isn't sacrificed, at all. I can't comment on the installation as I had my mechanic (Tony's Corvette Shop) install them. The quality is untouchable. I've seen 1300 degree silver/chrome ceramic coated headers start to rust and have their ceramic coating flake off. Not with these baby's. Remember, whenever you buy anything in this world, you get what you pay for. Appearance wise, because of the black ceramic coating, you can't even tell there are headers on the car until you start the engine. Good luck on your shopping!

QIKSLVR, I have the TPIS L98 long tubes, but am looking for something without the emissions crap on them. Did your set come with the egr and air pump fittings?

Black 'n Blue, I ordered them with the standard factory fittings so that they could be used on the street and be emissions compliant. You should be able to order them directly from TPIS in any configuration that you want.
