89 head gasket replacement
I'm in the middle of replacing the head gasket. I removed the driver side head.
How do you clean or remove the old gasket residue from the engine block?
I used sand paper for complete engine rebuilt in the past. It was fine because all the parts went to the acid bath, but this is the first time I do head gasket only. I'm afraid particles from sand paper goes to the engine. I tried a blade, but it does not go to bare metal.
The other question is if we need to remove the AC compressor from the bracket or if we can only remove the bracket only and pull the compressor away. I will replace water pump too.
