Still learning things on cars in terms of DIY. As I said before, I mainly do basics like oil, transmission fluid, etc changes. I bought my 87 a yesterday and already knew that it needed some light TLC to get it back to full blown operation.
So my question is, I took the pictures below after doing another check on making sure connectors were secure and such.
Now I know that the cable running into that boot ends up where my hand is. I assume it belongs on the throttle bracket as where else would it go. I attached it and proceeded to put the car back in the garage. My question is, what exactly is the second cable for and what is the boot for? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but my knowledge as far as how to fix things on cars is somewhat limited.
No such thing as a stupid question. We all started out with very little knowledge and most of us haven't progressed very far from this in a number of years. The thing with the bellows and the cable end you are holding onto is for the cruise control. This is not necessary for the car to operate. The inner cable is the throttle cable. This is attached to the go pedal and needs to stay hooked up. Good luck.
That solves why cruise doesn't work. I attached it and noticed the RPMs would be weird at random times. Like stuck at 1300 at idle unless I barely hit the gas and that's with cruise off. I took it back off temporarily.
