Default windshield wiper motor assy.

Can anyone tell me the difference between a 1986 and a 1988 windshield wiper motor assy? Are they interchangeable?

Thanks

An '86 motor would have a 2-wire connection at the armature end and the '88 I believe is the first year of the 3-wire connection. You can use the 3-wire to replace the 2-wire but it needs either the adapter harness or would require construction of one.

If your '86 had been replaced previously it would likely have been replaced by the 3-wire.

This is the 2-wire for the '86:

The '88 would be a 3-wire at this same location. Both have the same connection at the black plastic cover that's "top-side".

Thanks. This gives me more options. Most of the 88 and above complete wiper motor assemblies I see in ebay come with adapter wire.
Thanks again.
