Default 1985 muffler help please.

Hey guys, will these fit on my car? Is there an issue with them being single output? I have a standard exhaust right now. I removed the old mufflers to see if I could handle the noise but it is too loud. The input and output is 2.5

The inlet and outlet arrangement "hints" that it should be a difficult install. Not impossible but I'd say it's certainly not a DIY.

Check out Corvette Central's exhaust section. Excellent choices for mufflers and systems, and they have videos with audio for most of the selections.

I believe the "location" of the OP is a considerable disadvantage for the major Corvette "resellers" product but the images would give the OP the inlet/outlet arrangement that would certainly be easier to modify for his install.

I would not go with flowmasters on a Corvette even if they did fit! They sound good on mustangs and stuff but for some reason not a lot of people don't like them on Corvettes from what I hear.

I would go with kbd targa exhaust, which is real cheap and has a nice free flowing sound. I have Dynomax ultra flo's on my car and they sound decent.

If you want a real nice sound, go with Corsa, if you have $1500 to spend on mufflers. I would never spend that but it's up to you.

Cheap mufflers for these cars are flowmaster, kbd, dynomax, and muffler eliminators, everything else gets pricey. For a little more cash, you can go with magnaflow mufflers which sound pretty nice.

Those mufflers are going to be very difficult to install, especially if you don't have a pipe bender and a lot of time to waste, you'll be going back and forth to auto zone and welding and clamping pipes at different angles to get it to fit the rear y pipe.

Also, it will look very cheesy with one exhaust tip coming out on each side.

The mufflers I listed aren't very expensive, between $200-$300 for two. The muffler eliminators sound nice with a stock exhaust and have the most aggressive sound I found when I had them on my car, and they were like $175 from Corvette Central.

But, I would recommend you go to like a Corvette show, or a Corvette club and listen around to the different C4 exhausts before you make a decision. I've been through 3 different exhaust systems now and I'm not yet fully satisfied.

Good luck!
