I took out my Hypertech Stage 1 because mot peopple here say they suck and the stock one is better. How does Ed's compare to stock? How is it better than Hypertech and what does it do?
Yes. I think he owns the company, just click on the customers comments and you should see many people thanking Ed, wasn't sure if these were Ed Wright chips myself until I read the comments.
Not sure but on the FAQ page I saw that he had a stage 2 with a new stat. Not sure if this was available for the 89. Should I get a custom one being that I havn't done anything major to my car?
I'm guessing that stage 2 is meant for a 160 or 180 thermostat. So if youre gonna change that, then go ahead and get the stage 2. I dont think you need the custom one, since you havent changed the heads/cam.
Ed and Fastchip is one in the same. Just dealt with Ed and bought the Stage II w/160deg stat for my LT1. $159 for chip and $25 for stat. After driving it for week I cna't say that I notice any real performance improvement. But he does make changes throughout the power band and most of them don't. I do like the cooler running car. I'm happy with it. I;ve changed my air filter, cut the shroud, TB bypass etc and am changing mufflers so he said the stage ii would be fine. No custom chip required. Stage I is for a stock vehicle and no 160 stat is required.
I have a 85 with a hypertech stage 2 chip and 160 degree stat. I got It before I did a lot of mod's to the car like duel eghaust no cats, 1.6 rr's, gutted MAS sensor, air foil, new injectors, and it's a 355 c.i. to along with other mod's should I get another chip like a custom one

yes you would benefit from a custom chip, even moreso if you change the cam
