'96 Fuel Guage Problem
I had an unusual problem with my fuel guage the other day. It has always worked fine but Friday night it was down to just below 3/4 and it suddenly jumped to a completely full reading. It stayed there as if it was stuck for about 150 miles. Cycling IGN did not clear it, starting up the next morning did not clear it. After about another 50 miles it just barely started coming down. I then filled the tank where it, of course, went back to completely full. It seemed to stay there longer than usual but after about 200 miles it has come down to about 3/4 again. This seems innaccurate still.
I was thinking maybe the float was sticking but why did it all of a sudden jump up to full?
If it is electrical, why the slow changes in reading?
Any ideas what might be wrong or where to look?
