Default Fuel question

So, I picked up an 87 convertible the other day. The guy I got it from says he replaced the fuel pump, filter, vacuum hoses, and all 8 injectors are new.

He was having fuel pressure issues and did all this without having the opportunity to test his work, and it's sat as is for 3 years garaged. He also drained the tank an flushed it out.

After reading quite a few threads on here I was just wondering if you guys would bother rebuilding the FPR as a matter of course, or just put gas in it and see if it'll fire up? Long post for a quick question I know, thanks for bearing with a newbie vette owner!

(Obviously I'm new to forums as well, my phone was acting up and I ended up posting this question 5 times. Sorry guys, please disregard the next 4 posts!)

Just put gas in, fire it up and check the fuel pressure. I think it supposed to be 38 at idle. Make sure the vacuum line is connected though.

What ever you do, do it outside with a fire extinguisher and a someone to watch for fuel leaks under the hood. NEVER trust someone else's work especially when they are relating something they did three years ago.

With both of the above threads. Its really odd he would not test his work, I certainly would have for the satisfaction of job well done (or "O crap, what have I done wrong") if nothing else. It would make me think there was something else wrong or undone.

R&R of the fuel pressure regulator would basically give you a new fueling system so why not. Might want to do this before fueling the car up just for the fire issue. If you're not, put some gas in it and see what is up if the PO has no other information. Keep that fire extinguisher handy in case you find out what the PO did wrong or forgot. I keep finding shoddy repair work on my car from PO's so it certainly is a possibility for problems.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, I decided to just gas it up and try her out. No girl pressure, spent the past two days sifting through threads here and troubleshooting the fuel system.

Finally replaced the Fuel Pump and re wired the fuel pump wiring harness. Also ran some fuel hose and deleted the pulse damper. Got her to fire up and let her idle for a few minutes. Now I won't feel bad spending some money on tune up items.
