Already have a nos delco waterpump for the car and have done the mod to it for a drain hose. The pump on the car now is from NAPA was installed in 2009 by previous owner. My service manuals arrived this morning, now all I have to do is wait for the car to shut down again and then I can begin to diagnose the problem. Started right up again this morning when I went to check it before I left for work. I have all the parts I need to make the repair just need to know where the culprit is.....Will let everyone know when I determine that.

Thanks....Now here is something strange. Went out this morning since I have off and started the car. Ran for about 10-15 seconds and died. I thought great now I can start to check it to see what is up. Yesterday before I left for work I cleared all the codes so I wanted to see if any came back. There were none stored. Crank the engine for 15 seconds and turn key to off. Put the trusty paperclip back in turn key to run and within 3 seconds the engine starts dieseling or run on. Now why would it do that. Also there were no codes present.
So, with the engine off, you turned the key to the run position, and the engine started to run, albeit poorly? No starter involved, just started running? That is unusual. Gotta be the ingnition switch or related.
update on the problem. Finally had some time to work on the car. I had purchased some NOS parts ICM and coil and map sensor for trial puposes as I work at a parts store. Plugged in the ICM same problem would not start. Checked the opti harness and it checked good. I had purchased a new harness from EFI connections to replace the old one when and if I replaced the opt if it needed it, so I changed it and the car started. It now seems to be running fine but I have no taken it on the highway yet as the roads here are still a mess from the salt from the snow we had. Hopefully this was the problem, now just have to wait for spring when I can take it for a test ride. If the problem reoccurs then the opti will get replaced.....Thanks for all the help....
