Default vacuum lines (Help)

I have been looking for a possible vacuum leak and I ran across this little black box that sits behind the thermostat housing. It has two lines going in the front side and it looks like there should be another one connected on the back but there is nothing on the plastic connector except a little metal u connector on it. I have an 86 with aluminum heads.

It should only have two vacume lines on it. Both lines are on the same side. I am not sure what the other side is for. It could possible be some kind of presure release valve or something?

If it is for the EGR valve, then it is an 'exhaust' port and there is not supposed to be a line attached to it.

On my 89, I ran into the same delima upon re-assembly. I went to the local GM dealer, asked parts counter guy to lemme see their computer screen with vaccuum diagrams. Also They let me into their room where they keep all the manuals for all GM cars(where their techs go to look stuff up). I looked at our Y-body books and F-body books for vaccuum hose diagrams. I looked at 87's, 88's, 89's and 90's. None showed any hose going to that port. So I also just left mine uncovered.

I believe that is the EGR solenoid. There should be a schematic of the egr vacuum lines on top of your radiator cover on the drivers side somewhere.
