I have been learning a lot from this forum over the years (thank you all!). I have finally joined and need to seek some specific advice.
I have a 93 C4 that is just approaching 100k miles. I have owned it 10 years and put 30k miles on it. I am about to replace the plugs and wires, but wonder what else I should do as PM for the ignition system. Should I mess with the opti and replace the cap and rotor too? I don't know if it has ever been touched.
I would leave opti alone since removing water pump is involved. L98 is another matter since distributor is in the open. At 10 years replacing most fluids would be a good idea.
If you are going to do the wires, you will probably need a set of wire holders. Most likely many will break when you remove the wires from them. Or you can just do the job and find out what breaks and then replace only them.
You might need to remove the belt and some other items to get to the left side wires. It is pretty tight in there and wire length is at a minimum and not much wiggle room to get them back on.
I did my wires the first time I did the opti which made thing a whole lot easier. You will definitely work at getting those wires back on.
Good advice to leave the opti alone if it's still running good. I would stay alert and check the bottom of the pump from time to time to make sure it is not leaking.
