Hi guys,
Merry Christmas.
I replaced the rear hatch solenoid and the hatch will not open. I can hear the clicking from the relay.
Any ideas where I should go from here?
Thank you,
With the hatch open, can you move the locking mechanism at all? If the solenoid does release the locking rod, you should be able to push it back down.
It could be that the solenoid you received doesn't work. Or the relay is bad even though it "clicks". Try putting 12v directly to the wire on the solenoid.

How many volts are getting to the solenoid? If you are hearing a clicking, it could be that it is moving but has a low amount of amperage to it. If there is a high resistance somewhere in the wire, it will decrease the amount of total amperage. If you test continuity through that wire, you should see around 0.2 ohms of resistance, if you see a tiny bit higher it should be okay for it to have enough amperage to the solenoid, but if it is drastically higher then you have a problem.
Let me ask you this though before we go any further, why did you replace the solenoid in the first place? You may have to make an adjustment on the latch, or replace it. What is the resistance value of the solenoid?
If after you measure the voltage at the solenoid, if it is not correct or to low, the voltage for it comes from a relay in the PKE module. If for some dumb reason the contacts are bad, it could be a problem.
Check the alignment of the solenoid and loop that goes into the solenoid latch. There is also a coating on the metal loop and if it is ragged or not smooth, it may hang the release action up.
The big plastic trim on the rear that goes around the solenoid and top of area needs to be screwed down properly and not left loose or sloppy. It may put a binding on the release action
