Default Bolt Information - Intake Plenum 1989

Can someone tell me the bolt length for the intake Plenum - I have two or three different lengths for each side. Also is there an easier bolt type to replace the stock bolts for the intake plenum???? Does ARP
make of kit for this application???

I have dimensions but I believe it's easier to match "what you've got" to this image and proceed. If you're missing one or more you could need help but I believe that for L98 this image should help.

You mentioned plenum so this is all of the metric M8 hardware. The LIM to cylinder heads are NOT metric and I didn't bother with that information.

ARP has packages for nearly everything. There should be no issues if that's what you feel you need but I'd guess they're expensive. Never looked.

basically, you need to fit the bolt lengths to the runner tubes. there are different flange lengths or thickness cast into the air tubes, but in a nutshell, each bolt should have a tad over 5/8" protruding that threads into the plenum or intake. just play around with the bolt placement - the (bolt) lengths should fall into place. the same holds true (5/8") for the two bolts that install from the inner side of the intake.

I've never had an issue with the factory torx bolts, so I cant advise on a replacement.

Doh, I read intake. Completely missed the plenum part of the question. Sorry for mis-information on ARP kit....

I have hex head bolts on my plenum and the runners to intake both.. You can pick these up at Ace Hardward alot cheaper then ARP sells them for..Torx bolts work, but hex is alot better, no chance of stripping the head........WW

I guess you mean "socket head" and not "hex head" bolts.

I used stainless steel machine socket head bolts on mine. Not only looks way better but makes the job of removing the intake allot easier too.

FWIW, I've always called them "allen head cap screws," although I think the correct "ANSI spec" term is "socket head cap screw."

Mine are on and off so often I use VELCRO!

As long as you use antiseize you shouldn't have any problems.. Antiseize should be used anytime you put steel into aluminum, unless your going into a waterjacket or oil flow.. Then you should use a RTV sealant that is impervious to coolant and oil...WW

whatever bolt type you use, make sure you use anti-seize - especially into aluminum.

Wayne, To be honest, I haven't fired it yet! The job turned into a full resto, so I'm still working on getting the underbody cleaned up and painted. I'll be back before long with pics of the whole deal. Hope you're keeping well and happy holidays.
