Default LSX conversion

Well, I decided to swap my 96 LT1 over to an LSX. I wanted to start my own thread to document what I'm doing and fish for answers from those that have done it. I have been digging thru LS1Tech searching for some answers and PM'ing members here. Ordered a harness yesterday. It will integrate with my 96 harness (I am sending them my stock harness so they can do the pinout/rewire). Theirs a bit of lead time before I need to send them mine, but I expect to start disassembly and parting out my LT1 at the end of next week.

I haven't found the engine, yet and am planning on using my stock transmission and 2800 stall TC that's in it.

If you see something I might have missed in this thread or some advise, fee free to post up.

Things I need to sort out:
Engine mount adapters.
Fuel system. ( I saw a thread that covers this )
Exhaust manifolds. (Planning on using stock C5 LS1 manifolds )
Flexplate/spacer set up ( I would like to find a bolt in flexplate that needs no spacer and has the correct TC bolt pattern for my current TC )
Cats
Power steering
Alt bracket ( I believe Holley sells the bracket I need )
Water pump
Crank pulley
LS1/2/6 manifold (stock or aftermarket)

Find a good deal on a low mileage engine! Not a major rush, but I need to find it and have it delivered to the house before 14Jan. ( I have to be back at work by then )

I am sure there is more... I will update this post as it occurs and emerges from the fog. Lol

Ch@0s is a pro on the LS swap, he helped me with me swap when I need info. one of the good thing about your swap will be, you have a 96 vette which the trans will work with a LS- ecm

Thank you for posting. I just read every page of your thread. I am sure I will be asking questions. I am picking my engine up on Tuesday.... I am going with an LS1. Not pulling the LT1 until next Saturday's cars and coffee get together.

I hope! I have conflicting stories about whether or not the TC bolt pattern will match the LS flexplate.

You just need spacer, part number in my first post.

I need to find caps to cap off my A/C system until I get around to that portion... Probably late spring/early summer.

So I have read nearly every C4 LSX thread I could find. The one thing that keeps kicking me in the teeth is the LT1 PCM and the CCM.

Has anyone done this conversion, without the stock PCM, and kept all the functions of the stock gauges (minus the fuel average), the HVAC, and the airbags? I really don't want to keep the stock PCM in the car. I would love to know the input and output voltages of the CCM. Is it possible to remove the CCM? Would the require an entire rewire of the car?

V/r,
Chris
