Yank torque converter
Does anyone have any experience with this set up. Future changes may include Edelbrock LT 4 upgrade kit.
His is a pretty tight converter. You hardly notice it's there at all. Foot brakes a little over 2000RPM currently. With 3.73 rear gear it's been 11.0's in the 1/4 mile. I personally feel it could stand to be loosened up about 1000RPM but he's already way too fast for a car with no bars in it.
He had the same converter in the car with the stock bottom end that had ported TEA LT1 heads and a Hot Cam. With a 4.09 rear gear it went 11.60's in the 1/4 mile.
Overall it's a good converter. Very good street manners as long as you have a little rear gear.... it's going act different if you have 2.59 rear gear but as long as you have at least the 3.07 it'll be fine with the stock engine and later wity the top end package you want to put on it.
When you get ready to do the top end send me a PM... I can do much better than the Edelbrock stuff for the same or less $$$.

Any engine changes will not be until late 4/14. Business considerations.
My friends want me to get into bracket racing with them. The vette is a good weather, fun, car.
I've never done track racing until this year. When I was a kid I was a street racer in So Cal. "let's find a stoplight and go" type of thing.
Do you have a web site?
Thanks Again

I totally understand other things come before building an engine for racing.... I have no reason to think I won't still be a member here next year when you get ready to do your top end.

When mine was bone stock, I changed the rear from 2.59 to 3.54. Ran a best of 13.17 at 105.xx mph.
Rebuilt the transmission with all stock parts, and no shift kit. We installed the yank at that time. Ran a best of 12.91
Keep in mind these are all on stock wheels and mitchlin pilot tires. No drag radials at that time. I think my 60ft time was 1.7x with the converter and with the stock converter it was 1.9x
The converter is different from stock. But if you give it the gas lightly you don't even notice there is a difference. Go full throttle and it really changes things.

After switching to 3:45's it want's to kick in/out overdrive at cruise speed around 40-45mph, I have to put it in low if it's going to be at that rpm/mph for any stretch of road. I have there 3,000 stall 9.5"
