So we were working on our 1986 C4 project car and we were told the driver side headlight needed a new gear. Got into the area and noticed the headlight wiring was not plugged in. So I plugged it all in and pulled the headlight **** on the dash and the headlight came right up and was on.
The problem is when you push the **** back to the off position. The headlight goes down correctly, but the motor never shuts off so it makes a horrible noise. So now I know why it was unplugged...
I need help fixing the headlight. Is there a pressure switch or something I need to replace? Any help is appreciated.
1986 C4 4+3 Z51 car
Thanks!

Reason: Found Answer
Lots of threads on this. The 3 nylon bushings in the motor have turned to powder. They are easy to replace and cost about $ 6.00 for each headlight. Search for headlight bushing replacement or something like that and you will find detailed descriptions with pictures.

'86 Corvettes don't have those bushings. They didn't start until 1988 or so. Different setup.
Production yes BUT when stock was exhausted of the 3 - wire configurations there was a "package" used to update/upgrade earlier production to the newer 2 - wire configuration. A collision loss of an '84 - '87 that was repaired with NEW OE/GM got that package.
It might have been interesting if the OP commented on what he mentions as "found answer" in his quest for a method to "delete thread". Did he "find answer" or maybe assumed he has? Maybe he'll be back!
is this a matter of national security that we NOT know what the cause of this was/is?
Normally as a member of the Corvette community people will share their solutions so that they may help other forum members...
I already know what the problem is, but I'd still like to see what they say.
