damn it seems like my car is not performing at its peak. anyway I put together the vids I mentioned. his car is limited to 120 so of course after that it wasn't a race anymore. but it was close!

OP i'm VERY impressed with how hard your stock auto '89 ran that 305hp v6 mustang! Imagine a 5spd or some mods on that.
Also, what was the silly fwd at the end there? The blue one?
Both cars are stock. My 89 is a 6 speed the stang was auto. The blue thing was my buddys mitsu 3000gt. I had to throw it in there so he wouldnt get upset lol. Anyway that mustang was really fast i couldnt beleive it.
That mustang was really fast? Its got 305hp bone stock lol... for an '89 Vette to keep up in a drag race is impressive I'd say.
Yes yes your right lol. But cmon its a v6! A couple of years ago a new v6 mustang wasnt nearly as potent. Whatever, even if he does circles around me i still sound and look alot better
A couple years ago, v8 mustangs weren't anything special either The base mustang GT hasn't been a fast car since the foxbody, and up until they released them with the new 5.0.
I'd be tickled to see what happens if you and that v6 mustang go head to head in a road course... I foresee bus lengths on him, not just car lengths.

From Car&Driver's website---> "But we can’t fault the big-league numbers: a 152-foot stop from 70 mph and a neck-straining 0.95 g around the skidpad, both of which slightly better the 2011 GT’s and approach those of far more expensive stuff. We also didn’t notice any fade from the stock brakes, which should hold up fairly well even if you plan to hit the track regularly. (Did we just suggest frequent track use of a V-6 Mustang? I think we did.)"
Uh oh. I better get a hold of some slicks for autox season
I am at a total loss... looking at the video you won, each time, and really started to pull away up top... looks pretty good to me. Sure against a V6 but one with 300HP+ and it's not like he started reeling you in... which really surprised me.

Agreed. I think the corvette would have continued putting lengths on him until its 150-160mph top speed was reached.
A friend of mine who I don't want to get into trouble got me and two other vette guys onto a famous track in northern PA. for some time on a Saturday and Sunday quite a few years ago. My car was five or six years old at the time. Top end was 163mph for mine and 165mph for one of the other ones. I have 3.07 rear gears in my 96' automatic the other was a stock rear six speed. After 120mph the car started to squat down and the steering got a hell of a lot stiffer. The faster it went the more stable it got. Quite a testimonial to the engineering that went into these cars. The third guys vette got real floaty at 115mph and he said he didn't trust going any faster. My friend and I both tried his car and it was unsafe at 120mph. We checked his car out and he had the SawBlades on backwards and was pumping air under the car instead of out from underneath it. That night we got his tires mounted right and Sunday he did 163mph also. What a difference the wheel direction made. They are like ducted fans at that kind of wheel rotation and move quite a bit of air out from under the car. Its like the car is sucked to the track. It was nice to have a safe place just to see what the cars could do but I do not recommend doing this on regular roads. At these speeds a pieces of junk or an animal and you, the car, and any body around you are wasted. On the track that's a risk you are willing to take, on the street you are not giving the other drivers on the road that choice.

This must explain the experience I had in my 84 back in 86, I hit about 120 and it started to float on me, scared the crap out of me but I always thought it was normal so I kept my speeds down after that... probably a good thing I got spooked.
