90% of ALL replaced MAFs were actually bad wiring or poor connections or relays. MAFs are pretty reliable. DVM on relays (if equipped) or follow FSM flow chart to test relay or control module circuits. The MAF plug itself is good for problems.
EGR....same deal. Dirty connections to the solenoid, egr ports caked with carbon and crud, bad vacuum to the egr or solenoid. EGR solenoids DO fail, but check the simple things before buying a new one. Its usually vac or solenoid elec connections.
BTW..
clean the MAF with a spray cleaner made for MAFs. DO NOT try to touch it (hot-wire)unless you are comfortable with delicate electronics...
