Dreaded Key Fob Issue
I know that there are a ton of posts on here about programming the key fob and I swear that I tried them several times before posting. I just purchased my 96 last week and the fob was broken. The replacement arrived today and I've followed the instructions with no luck. I've been following the instructions below.
I hit the trip/odo button twice and hold down the fuel/info button. The instructions state that I should hold it down until the pke light comes on and stays on. The problem is that it comes on for a split second and disappears. I've had the fob 20 feet away
Any suggestions?

Your PKE module is bad. You need to remove the dash to get to it. They are expensive and difficult to locate. You need to hunt the internet and be patient. I bought a 94 last year and had to replace mine. I wish I remember where I got mine...Good Luck!

I had to replace mine 2 years ago for the same reason. At that time, I bought 2 not knowing if either would work. I had the Chevy dealer install it, but I currently have it deactivated at the moment. I still have the other one that I bought but not sure if it works. The 2 replacement I got were from a 96.

Your PKE receiver may very well be bad, but lets start from the top.
When you put the key in the ignition and turn it to only the ON position (no start), does the PKE light for 2 seconds and then go off?
