Default Changing brake pads.

Replacing with carbon metallic, doing front and back. Do I have to remove some brake fluid or can I go without that (haynes says im supposed to)? any other tips before I jump in?

If the reservoir is full, it is a good idea to remove some. When you press the piston(s) in the caliper back be careful. You do not want brake fluid splashed over the engine compartment. I always bleed the brakes after replacing the pads. Not that it needs to be done, but because I'm already there and have the wheels off. Replace the pins and retaining clips. They are inexpensive and better than having problems later.

Easiest way IMO is to open the bleeder valve when you open (uncompress) the calipers for the new pads. That pushes out the fluid rather than pushing it back to the master cylinder. Then bleed them when you are done.

What car?

If it has ABS do not push the caliper pistons in forcing fluid into the master. Run a tube from the bleeder and crack it as you push the piston in allowing the fluid to come out of the caliper and into a container. When compressed close the bleeder. Top up master.

If that manual is for a car with ABS, get rid of that manual!
