Some aluminum flashing and pop rivets. I did some major repairs on the back side of my door panels like that. I am not spending $500+ for door panels on a $4000 car. And I have a screw like that too.
I think all the Corvette Suppliers offer those pieces and the ones at Corvette Central indicate they are from Al Knoch. The replacement pieces have threaded metal mounting posts instead of the stock plastic posts. Before you get upset at the $80 price, my convertible pieces are $130. Underneath that top strip are two "pins" that are held in place with a "push nut".
The pins break easily and I've tried a few different repairs that never held permanently.
So I used one painted screw going down, not out like yours.
Been there for a coupla years an does not detract from the originality except for those that know.
So I either improvise a way to screw that back down, or get a new $80 piece. And that screw isn't stock thats sticking out like that. Thanks guys.
Thats it in a nutshell. This is an age old problem and there are many fixes developed for repair. Use the advance search function and type in "door panel repair" in the C4 Tech forum for a ton of results.
