I have bought a few things on e bay, mostly fishing and boating stuff. I keep getting ads for my 93 and it seems most of them are for lighting, headlights. I never knew there were so many options. The latest was headlight with a blue halo around the outside or rim of light? Whats with that? I guess im giving up my age. My question is is there a big improvement that i can expect with a certain type of headlight other than the stock ones on my car now? Guess i should have put this under general. Dave
I had installed a set of Hella Euro headlamp housings and Xenon bulbs in my old '92. They were a tremendous improvement over the stock lights. Cibie also makes a similar kit. IIRC, the bulbs were something like 100w and the factory wiring easily handled the current demands.
Don't know what the "blue ring" is about but I'll bet it has nothing at all to do with quality lighting and better output. There may be HID kits available for C4's but expect the cost to be high for really good light output. Stay away from the cheap stuff like the diamond-cut housings.
I say that in caps lock because most setups, especially on ebay, are chinese crap that aren't DOT approved and will completely destroy your field of view.
There are vendors on here that offer HID and angel headlight setups for our car, for a pretty damn reasonable price. Those guys I would go with.
The halo lights are just for looks. I think they look ridiculous on most cars... especially a c4 corvette.
The HID setups are ultra bright light that can replace your low, high, or low and high beams. They are very tough, energy efficient, and bright as the dickens.
I agree i never buy from e bay unless i know the product. I was just surprised there was such an assortment of lights available. Looks like Hella and ive heard of them. I think i used them on an old dune buggy back in the day. Thanks Dave
I bought these HID projector headlights from Corvette Mods. They are 55W, 5000 K lights and put out a great amount of white light without blinding oncoming drivers.
Low beams.

Wow thats bright! I bet they would work good for deer hunting! Just kidding..
hella e-code headlamps from rallylights will push you into a more modern setup with much better lighting. A properly setup projector system is VERY expensive but is THE best way to get good light.
I have e-codes with 85/80 (I think). The guys at rallylights are knowledgeable and can help you make a decision.
look at Daniel Sterns lighting.
e-coded housings with high watt bulbs will give plenty of light.
High watt bulbs need relays to get the current out of the headlight and dimmer switch.
100w bulbs pulled 18a. 16ga wire won't get it.
No bulbs to wear out, plug and play with the OEM wiring harness, no heat or excessive amperage draw issues like with high wattage H4 bubs and ecode housings. No need to mount & wire ballasts. No problems with retrofitting HID bulbs into reflector housings that were not made for HID's in the first place, (No light scatter, clean light cutoff!) Clean white light, focused where it should be....... as good as it gets for our C4's. They also come w/a four year manufacturers warrantee and are available in DOT, ICE lht, and ICE rht hand configurations. VeryExpensive though!
A forum member in this thread claimed to have picked up a pair of these for $480.00.
