Does anyone know how to get under there to change out those bulbs? Ive looked and it almost seems like you have to take the whole underside of the interior off to change and buld which seems like over kill but with these cars it wouldnt surprise me if the response is that is the way.

Thanks guys.
That is what I did for the driver's side of my 1995. I took the carpeted piece off right under the steering wheel and then a metal cover is over the bulb. Not sure if it can be done without this removal or not. It wasn't that hard, just a few screws.
I recently changed this on the driver side. 1985-1989 its very easy just remove screws under the steering column and a small bolt up close to the firewall. Then turn the plastic piece to the right and it comes out easy.
After 4 screws and a plate on the drivers side and another two on the passenger side all lights have been installed and I highly recommend the change as it really cleans up the interior look for not much cost. Corvettemods has the package and was what I went with. On to the next project ... headlight gear replacement/ upgrade to aluminum
If this was the hush panel, the light housing on mine can be popped out so you can change the bulbs without even pulling the panel. Found that out when I had the mechanic work on my 86 last summer and he left one of the panels off. The socket just snapped into the opening in the panel.
