After deciding to get a new exhaust one that looked really good was these, http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/?p...haust Kits&kw=. The only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of reviews or videos with them, does anyone have any experience with them? How loud are they and how's the resonance? Thanks.
If you're still thinking about what exhaust system to buy, you should check the above link. These guys have done a TON of work evaluating different manufacturers, systems, components, etc.
I bought the flowmaster II cat back on my 95 when I first bought it new in 95. its quiet and was trashed in 3 years. looked gross too. tips rusted in a matter of a few months. I switched to the SLP catback with a x pipe and wished I had bought that from the get go. the magnaflow is nice too.
Well, went ahead and got them (a steal from O'reilly's, $455 vs. the $682 from Flowmaster) and in my opinion, they sound fantastic. Way more of a growl and sounded like a Corvette should, looked fantastic also. Drone inside was as good or slightly better than the Dynomax that it had came with. Everything fit up pretty well also, here's some pictures. First one is old exhaust for comparison.
I installed a forceII system on my '90 back in 2004 and it has held up extremely well, just a little bit of surface rust at the crook of the Y and that's it for corrosion. Flowmaster has it's detractors, but I really can't knock them. You got an awesome price as I paid $360 (I think, from Summit Racing) way back in '04. I've never run mine in the winter and it's garaged, so I'm sure that helps to keep it from corroding. I've got the three chamber mufflers, can't remember what series that equates to, sounds alright. That's the one complaint that do have with the system, would prefer something that sounded like a Corsa or Magnaflow system. Neither of those systems were available back when I needed an exhaust system and I sure wasn't going to dole out the money for a B&B Triflow. I don't see the need to remove a perfectly good system that performs well with the stock equipment, but the newer stainless systems sure would be nice.
Been watching this for a while now. Would like to get your thoughts on the Flowmasters now that they've been on for a while. Are you still happy with them? How are they holding up cosmetically? Am considering them for my 87.
I still really like these on mine, some resonance but not bad, just some occasional polishing and they still shine great. The sound for me outside is just great, not too loud for daily driving but it picks up when you step on it. I don't know if O'reilys is still selling them but if they are I'd definitely recommend it.
