Default First baseline dyno run....thoughts?

I have a 94 6 speed coupe. I just got back from Cincy Speed where they did 3 baseline pulls before the engine comes out for cam kit, headers, clutch, and some maintenance issues. Pulled 289.70. 290.73, and 290.02 at the wheels. Is that pretty normal? I was thinking closer to 230 to 240 max. Only mods are K & N with open lid, MSD Opti, coil, wires, E3 plugs, Hooker shorties, Magnaflow cats, and Corsa exhaust. 105,000 miles.

That is a very strong LT1. What were the torque numbers? Can you post up a photo of the sumo graph?

I never saw the torque numbers. I only have a picture of the HP once pull was done. I was runing video and just hit the picture button. They are going to email me graph if he can. I might have to run up there and pick it up. Will try to insert YouTube link after my phone up loads it.

Probally using the STD correction factor instead of the SAE....

My 92 back when it was stock (except for 160F T-stat, cut lid, K&N and Corsa) put down 287RWHP using the STD correction factor on a Dyno Jet.

In that trim my car ran 13.30@108mph on regular street tires.

those are very strong numbers.

most bonestock lt1's dyno around 260ish rwhp on dynojet.

Even though I dislike corsa (dont like how the price went from $895 in 2001 to double that - for an unchanged product), I suspect it is helping you.

There were lots of posts around 2001/2002/2003 showing dyno before and after improvements of 15 to 20 rwhp when going to corsa. I found it hard to believe, but the numbers were there.

The lt1 mufflers are known to be restrictive and corsa's mufflers are pretty good. Neat how they go from mild-to-wild sound at the touch of the gas pedal.

Though I have to question whether its smaller 2.5" pipes (stock lt1's are 2.75") will be the right direction you want to be in for future mods. Who knows, perhaps it will work great.

80 degree night, maybe 40% humidity. MR Drag radials heated in 2nd.

I have been thinking hard about going back to stock exhaust. now I have shorties and MF cats with Corsa and it is pretty loud. Going to cam kit, EM coated long tubes with Corsa might be louder than I really am willing to tolerate. I would like to know if the Corsa is really that much better. I can get MagnaFlow wholesale through one of my distributors and have thought about going with an MF cat back or even the axle back.

STD will only be a few off from SAE correction on a Dynojet depending on conditions..in OH in February I don't think the correction factor will make much difference at all. We're probably talking 5 whp, not 20.

Congrats on the strong LT1.

Good numbers. Looks like a strong LT1 all the way around. Dyno may be a little optimistic, but you have a good motor there.

good base line. My 95 had close to the same numbers (294rwhp) with a couple extra mods.

im not sure about magnaflow, but I know American racing header has a great header/x-pipe product out there right now for lt1 corvettes (I have it).

Though they still leave the muffler choice up to you.

The thing that has annoyed me about exhausts is no-one has come up with a 'weight saving' exhaust.

Even corsa, with the 2.5" diameter smaller pipes, still manages to weigh in the same as an lt1 stock exhaust (from what I hear).

What kind of cam and headers are you going with? I just did a LT4 hot cam with a new engine after spinning the bearings. I am going to set up appointment with Tracey to have mine tuned in a couple weeks. Good luck with your mods.

Congrats on the strong LT1. I only made 246RWHP and 304RWTQ but that is SAE Net Correction and it was on a Mustang dyno which typically reads less than a Dynoject on a hot July day.

Strong numbers, but on a side note,

seems like they aborted the pull a little early......was it a 6,000 RPM pull ?

LT1 won't go to 6k. Cuts off at 5850, and I heard it hit the limiter in the vid.
